THE WORLD'S LARGEST SHOES (Marikina)

This happened way way way way way (super way) back in August 2011 when I first set foot in Manila. 

Ooopsies! I have forgotten that this had been only a draft in this blog. (I am very forgetful, sorry)

Marikini City, known as the Shoe Capital of the Philippines had already stood up and recovered from the cruel catastrophe "Ondoy" when I arrived. We went to the Marikina Riverbanks Center (where my aunt worked), and there, I was welcomed widely, enormously and largely by the 

World's Largest Pair of Shoes (Guinness Book of World Records).

they say a total of 30 "normal" people can fit inside. O.o

I stayed in Marikina for a while, embracing and trying to adapt to the hustle and bustle of this city. I honestly enjoyed my stay and had my first taste of Burger King....

and yet another taste of my all-time favorite COFFEE --- which I truly missed the most. (Sadly, there's no Starbucks in my hometown)

CAFE LAGUNA

I've been in Cebu for four long years but never had I been able to eat in this classy restaurant. It's not that I couldn't afford it, but I'm just prudently cost-conscious. 

I was given an awesome lucky chance anyway, one time, when we met the cousin of my father at the airport after we set off my sister abroad. It was lunch time already, with my stomach rumbling and we were still travelling but when I heard "Cafe Laguna" -- not only my heart raced, but my stomach with all my digestive tract got excited.

We finally arrived at SM Northwing. Yay! 

And for the record,

When everything was said and done, 

and everything eaten and drunk -- 

my 26-inch waist magically turned into 28 inches! hahaha (approximately).

Plus, I don't observe my diet when I'm hungry or when I'm in a fancy restaurant (and it's free!).

This is my first time here in Cafe Laguna. I hope I'd have my second, my third.. until infinity!

FORT SAN PEDRO

GOOD-TO-KNOW that THIS IS:

1. also known as Fuerza de San Pedro

2. the oldest and smallest triangular bastion fort in the Philippines

3. has three bastions

4. built using stone mortar

5. had become a prison, some barracks,then a classroom, then a hospital, before it became a museum.

HOW TO GET THERE:

1. Ride a jeepney with the signboard: PIER 1 and ask the driver to drop you at the nearest stop. (It is strategically located near Plaza Independencia and Pier Uno). Fare is just 7.50 pesos.

2. Ride a taxi at your own convenience.

OPEN HOURS:

Everyday, 8AM to 5PM

ENTRANCE FEE:

Php 30 for adults

Php 25 for senior citizens

Php 20 for students and children.
